This
strategy may be a departure from current techniques so it is
worthwhile attempting to quantify the value of implementing this
strategy.
There is little question regarding the value of the basic model for Object relationships that are considered as Type 1.
To evaluate Type 2:
As an example – perhaps generating the speed table takes 30 minutes we can quantify the cost of building said speed table as -30*60 = -1800
And let us assume that we have 100 final consumers/requests whose temporal range based requests resolve in 30 seconds
If for instance using a speed table reduces the resolution time from 30 seconds to 10 seconds then we can quantify the value of said speed table as 20 * 100 = 2000
The value less cost is thus 200 a positive value.
However say there is only 5 final consumers then the value would be 100
And the overall resultant value would be -1700 a negative value thus evaluation fails.
There obviously are other consideration in addition to those above and it should be noted that the figures used are completely arbitrary and have no basis either practically or intuitively.
